Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy for Deep, Lasting Healing

Feeling stuck in talk therapy? KAP can help you go deeper—safely, gently, and with expert guidance.

Ketamine‑Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) combines a carefully dosed medicine with psychotherapy to catalyze healing. Ketamine has been used safely as an anesthetic for decades and is now a promising treatment for conditions such as depression, anxiety, and post‑traumatic stress disorder. Research shows that ketamine works differently from traditional antidepressants; it blocks specific receptors and stimulates others, helping the brain form new neural connections and boosting mood within hours. This "neuroplasticity"—the brain’s ability to change—can make therapy more effective by helping you break rigid thought patterns and establish healthier ones.

Why Combine Ketamine with Psychotherapy?

KAP is more than medication. Studies suggest that ketamine opens a “neuroplastic window” that begins within hours and can last several days. Meeting with a trained therapist during this window allows you to explore insights from your ketamine session and integrate them into daily life. Clients often report deeper emotional processing, new perspectives and a stronger therapeutic alliance after KAP.

What to Expect…

Initial consultation –During a 60‑minute intake session, we explore your history, goals and readiness for KAP. A licensed medical provider will review your medical and psychiatric history to confirm that ketamine is appropriate and prescribe a sublingual lozenge if you qualify.

Preparation – One or more sessions help you set intentions, learn how to self‑administer the medicine and create a safe environment.

Dosing session – A dosing session lasts about 2–3 hours. You will self‑administer your ketamine lozenge while reclining comfortably with an eye mask and music. A therapist remains present throughout to provide support.

Integration – Follow‑up therapy sessions within 24–48 hours help you process memories, thoughts and emotions that surfaced during the dosing session and to sustain positive changes.

Follow‑up – Periodic medical consultations monitor your physical health and adjust medication as needed.

Who May Benefit

KAP may be helpful for adults struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma or other mood‑related conditions, especially when previous treatments have offered limited relief. Because ketamine affects perception and mood, sessions can also support personal growth, self‑compassion and spiritual exploration.

Investment and Accessibility

When considering Ketamine‑Assisted Psychotherapy, it’s helpful to understand how the investment is structured without getting lost in specific numbers. A typical KAP program involves several components:

  • Initial intake and medical evaluation: a one‑time assessment with a licensed medical provider to ensure ketamine is appropriate and safe for you. We recommend Origin Mental Wellness.

  • Preparation and integration sessions: standard‑length psychotherapy sessions that help you set intentions before your ketamine journey and process insights afterward.

  • Experiential dosing sessions: longer sessions during which you self‑administer your ketamine lozenge in a comfortable, supported environment.

  • Follow‑up consultations and medication: periodic medical check‑ins and the cost of the prescribed ketamine lozenges.

By providing this broad outline, we aim to convey how the investment is structured while encouraging prospective clients to discuss personalized costs during an initial consultation. This approach balances transparency with flexibility and allows for individual circumstances such as insurance reimbursement or financial assistance.
